Pooch Update

Hello Family and friends! It’s been since the beginning of August that I updated you on my brother Pooch (Warren) Wolfe. As most of you know, Pooch was diagnosed with Melanoma Cancer back in April of this year. He had tumors all through his body at the time. Hershey Medical Center began treating him with a combination of drugs called Immunotherapy Treatment. Miraculously, by July the tumors had all disappeared! See The Miracles Continue! Unfortunately, the healing treatment had many adverse side effects of which Pooch has been battling all summer! He has gone from mountain top highs where he was back to almost full strength doing chores, mowing, driving, etc. to deep deep valleys where he was knocked flat on his back with fatigue, dizziness, nausea, colitis and other “GI” related problems.

We recently had our yearly Wolfe Picnic at his home and when we arrived he was experiencing so much pain he had to lay down for a while but within a couple of hours he was able to join in on the fellowship and by the evening was taking part in all of the fun and storytelling that always happens when we get together.

Over the last couple of months he has gotten into the cycle of being at home for a couple of weeks but then having to go back to the hospital to have his body re-generated with fluids and changes of medication. He currently is in the hospital and he and Thelma are hoping that this time around the doctors will figure out some combination of treatment that will eliminate his constant digestive problems.

I was in to visit him yesterday and he was very groggy and didn’t communicate very much. I went back today and after a couple of changes to his medication he was back to being the Pooch we all know, as he was making wise cracks and joking with the nurses and doctors. He was also up and walking down the hall without any assistance. So please pray that he will maintain a steady increase in strength, have a good appetite (with no nausea) and get back to full activity once more. God is Good and Jesus Saves!

O God who hears our prayers to You all flesh will come. (Psalm 65:2)

Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy! I look to you for protection. I will hide beneath the shadow of your wings until the danger passes by. I cry out to God Most High, to God who will fulfill his purpose for me. (Psalm 57:1,2)

God Will Make A Way!

sorrow2

Life happens! Tonight I sit here after visiting two people in the hospital. One is a Christian brother recuperating from hip replacement surgery, the other a young mother who needs the Lord Jesus and is recuperating from a car accident. I also can’t help but think of a young Christian mother who just days ago was taken from her family by Cancer into the very presence of the Lord after a long hard battle, leaving a loving husband and small children behind.

What are we to say? What are we to think? Where is God when life hurts? Does He hear? Does He care? Life is hard. Sickness happens, things go wrong, bodies wear out. Decisions made result in consequences that bring pain and regret. The miraculous thing is our Great God and Heavenly Father surrounds each one of us with His love and care no matter the condition of our heart and no matter the circumstance in which we find ourselves!

We live in a fallen world cursed by sin which has consequences that are no respecter of persons. The same problems, diseases, accidents, etc. fall on all mankind and we have the ability to react one of two ways to each circumstance. We look down (or inside ourselves) or else we look UP. Those that look UP have just turned to the way out of, or through their difficulties. Consider these Scriptural admonitions which speak for themselves:

“The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27:1

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:3

For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; He will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe every tear from their eyes. Revelation 7:17

Jesus said, “Blessed are they who mourn for they shall be comforted.” Matthew 5:4

Jesus said, “Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6

There are many more Bible verses that call out to us to lay down our burdens and allow our heavenly Father through the loving hands of Jesus to save us and assure us of His 24/7 presence so that He can make a way for us through the storms of life.

God will make a way, where their seems to be no way. He works in ways we cannot see, he will make a way for me. He will be my guide, hold me closely to His side. In loving strength for each new day, He will make a way, He will make a way! (from “God Will Make A Way” Don Moen)
