In Times Like These

Paris

Wow, what a world we are living in these days! We certainly need to look UP when we are DOWN. Agree? God never said it would be easy and in fact, I believe He said in this world we would see tribulation (or troubles). What He also said was that He would never leave us or forsake us! To encourage you… In Times Like These:

  1. We need to pray for our leaders:Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior. (1 Timothy 2: 1-3) This admonition applies no matter what political party they may be.
  2. We need to park our worries with the One who gives peace:Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.: (Philippians 4: 6-7)
  3. We need to do a “faith check”. In what or whom are we trusting?For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” (John 3: 16-17) Second Birthday!
  4. We need to TURN from any wicked way: “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14) Me Confess?
  5. We need to stay close to Jesus our Savior: I will lift up my eyes to the hills—From whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps me shall neither slumber nor sleep.” (Psalm 121: 1-4)

In times like these we are anxious, we worry about our country, about our families, about our children, about what the people will do who are tasked to defend us, and ultimately about those who will go toward the danger rather than run from it.

There is an ageless song in the Christian Church with these words:

In times like these you need a Savior
In times like these you need an anchor;
Be very sure, be very sure
Your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock!

Chorus
This Rock is Jesus, Yes, He’s the One;
This Rock is Jesus, the only One!
Be very sure, be very sure
Your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock!

Oh God, show Yourself strong on our behalf and for the ones closest to eternity open their eyes and hearts to Your amazing grace.
