You could hear the distant sound of a tractor heading up the valley road. “Chossy” (Josiah Zechman) as he was known to valley residents) was coming out from his farm for his evening refreshment. It was 1948, a simpler time of party phone lines, flat head engines and cook stoves. But the rising innovation of the twentieth century was on the horizon. With the baby boomers generation in full swing a whole tidal wave of change was moving across the countryside. Some of the things the residents treasured would pass away so gradually they would hardly even notice.
Neighbors still knew each other by first names, and communicated on a daily basis. People needed rest after a long days work, instead of exercise. They didn’t hesitate to help a neighbor build their home, gather crops, or even help raise one another’s children. A mischievous youngster couldn’t get…

HI….I am Carolyn Wolfe Bell. I am the daughter of Robert Davis Wolfe, who is s/o Robert Ulrich Wolfe, s/o Adam Henry Wolf. s/o Jacob Bixler Wolf, s/o Christian Wolf and Barbara Bixler, s/o Daniel Wolf d 1839 of Bethel Twp Lebanon PA. I have been researching the Wolf family for 40 years, mostly online from Texas via Ancestry and Family Search. Could we be connected?? I understand from a paternal cousin that our Grandmother Wolfe said we were related to the Green Point Wolfe’s. How? My cousin Chris Geib sent me the info on your blog. Love to hear from you.
Many thanks….Carolyn Bell, Carrollton, TX.

Hi Carolyn! Nice to hear from you! If you’d like to chat you can call me at 717-507-1956. My brother Larry (now with the Lord) did the lion’s share of investigating our Wolfe clan and I published his writings about the Wolf/Wolfes in my blog which maybe you’ve already read. His wife Betsy would also be a great resource on our family history. I attended Jonestown Bible Church from 1976-95 and knew the Geib family (Bob & Doris) who attended there as well. They had a chicken farm in the Bethel area and Mrs Geib’s maden name was Wolfe. I figured she was related to us, probably distantly. She had “wooly” like hair and one of my Great uncles (David) had such hair and his nickname was “Wooly” accordingly! He had 7 sons so I figured there was a possibility of a connection but I never was able to verify it. My brother Fred visited one of their sons (Dan I think) to investigate the connection but he wasn’t interested in discussing the matter. Maybe you will have info to complete that puzzle! Anyway, give me a call and leave a message and I will call you back asap. God’s blessings to you! Brian Wolfe
