Welcome!

WordPress, the provider of my blog page, creates a statistics page for me to see how many people are reading my blogs since I started blogging back on July 4th of 2015. So far here’s the data on my 144 blogs:

2015: Breaks down to 1,794 in the USA and 107 views in 31 other countries. The most popular blog was Grandma said, Give Thanks!

2016: Breaks down to 2,681 in the USA and 244 views in 46 other countries! The most popular blog so far in 2016 is The Invisible Hand

2017: So far breaks down to 406 views in the USA and 5 from other countries.

I continue to see that people from all over the world are reading my material and so I want to give a big US welcome to my readers all around the world!

I thought maybe someone was searching on the term “lobo” which is Spanish for wolf and that is how you may have stumbled upon me. But then only a few of the countries listed are Spanish-speaking so there must be other reasons or ways to find blogs on the world-wide web. Maybe you are seeking something more important than just reading material, and that is maybe you are searching for the way of eternal salvation through Jesus Christ. I hope that is the case!

With America, many believe we are a “Christian Nation” and that we are all believers or Christians here, but that belief couldn’t be further from reality. You see, just because a person is born in a country which was founded by Christians doesn’t make that person a Christian. Nor does being born in a family which has Christian parents automatically make the children Christians! We have a saying here, “God has no grandchildren only children”. If you are a believer in Jesus then you are a child of God, not a grandchild. Let me explain further by using the Bible where there is a story about Jesus meeting a very religious man whose name was Nicodemus. He was a Pharisee and leader of the Jewish religious system. Kind of like a priest. Certainly this man was a child of God right? Let’s see what Jesus said to him.

From the Bible in John chapter three verses 1-8: There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.” Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?”  Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

What Jesus was saying is that even though a person may be “religious” they still need to be “born again” or have a “spiritual birth” by following the plan of salvation in the Word of God the Bible. When a person realizes that Jesus died on the Cross for their sins and turns in repentance to Jesus for forgiveness, that person is cleansed by the “Water of the Word of God” and the “Holy Spirit” creates a “New Life” within them. This is not a physical birth but a Spiritual birth. You can’t see it, just like you can’t see the wind but you can see the effects of it in a changed life, for “If any man be in Christ he is a new creation.” 2 Corinthians 5:17

Dad Army

Sometimes we forget one of the main benefits resulting from our men and women serving in the various branches of our Armed Forces which is the freedom they provide for us to preach the Good News of Jesus Christ! The founders of our country came here for religious freedom so they could make Jesus known and glorify God in the process. That freedom was eventually challenged and could have been lost if it were not for the brave men and women who pushed back tyranny and oppression and many of them gave up their lives doing so.

America became the greatest nation on earth in many respects including providing a place where people could speak their own minds without fear, practice their faith, own their own property, create their own businesses, form their own laws and state governments to name a few. This engine of freedom led to the creation of the largest missionary enterprise on earth as hundreds of churches and mission agencies were established and began sending out preachers of the Gospel to the ends of the earth.

If America would have lost the wars in which she fought down through the ages the message of Jesus would have been silenced and the freedom to practice our faith would have been lost. Think of it, if Hitler would have been successful what kind of world would it be? Bringing us up to today, what kind of world WILL it be if the Islamic ISIS is successful? Yes, it is possible for them to defeat America if we take our freedoms for granted and if we are not diligent but snooze like a slumbering giant.

Consider the words of the Psalmist in chapter 102: Hear my prayer, O LordAnd let my cry come to You. Do not hide Your face from me in the day of my trouble; Incline Your ear to me; In the day that I call, answer me speedily. So the nations shall fear the name of the Lord, And all the kings of the earth Your glory. For the Lord shall build up Zion; He shall appear in His glory. He shall regard the prayer of the destitute, And shall not despise their prayer. This will be written for the generation to come, That a people yet to be created may praise the Lord. For He looked down from the height of His sanctuary; From heaven the Lord viewed the earth, To hear the groaning of the prisoner, To release those appointed to death, To declare the name of the Lord in Zion, And His praise in Jerusalem, When the peoples are gathered together, And the kingdoms, to serve the Lord.

In closing I want to publicly thank these close family members for their service to our great country. My father (pictured with my mother above) Warren A. Wolfe, Uncles Clarence Wolfe & Wayne Anspach, Brothers Warren F. Wolfe, Bruce Wolfe and Frederick Wolfe.

He Led Them On Safely

Laramie Truck Stop

Hello readers of Lobochronicles!

I’ve chosen today to post my brother Larry’s devotional as he is just returning to ministry after a serious physical problem. He is the Chaplain at a truckstop on I-85 in South Carolina. We can all thank the Lord for how he leads us across the mountain peaks and through the valleys of life.

Truth for Truckers *November 11, 2015*
During the past few days the Lord has made me keenly aware of His leading and guiding as He has allowed me to go through a very unusual health experience. After unknowingly losing a major amount of blood my son took my wife and I to the emergency room of the local hospital. They gave me five units of blood and now the Lord has put me ‘Back in the saddle again’ giving me a number of ministry opportunities since returning. Praise Him for leading us on safely!
–He led them on safely. Psalm 78:53

–I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment. Proverb 8:20

–Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared. Exodus 23:20

–So didst Thou lead Thy people, to make Thyself a glorious name. Isaiah 63:14

–Lead me, O LORD, in Thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make Thy way straight before my face. Psalm 5:8

–I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shall go: I will guide thee with My eye. Psalm 32:8

–The LORD your God which goes before thee, He shall fight for you. Deuteronomy 1:30

–O send out Thy Light and Thy Truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto Thy holy hill, and to Thy Tabernacles. Then will I go unto the Altar of God, unto God my exceeding joy: yea, upon the harp will I praise Thee, O God my God. Psalm 43:3, 4

God truly has sent His Light and His Truth, the Lord Jesus, before us as we moved about doing tests in two different hospitals. He sent His Angel before us giving opportunities to tell how He saved me, to a number of people and having fellowship with other Christian hospital workers. And, we are thankful to be back home and praising Him for the ongoing opportunities here at the ‘McPilot’ where ministry of the precious Word of God continues to have its impact!

Bye Bye Birdie!

Birdie

My wife JoJo told me the other day that she’s been hearing some noises in the basement. Noises huh… oh well, I’ll go check it out. So I go down to the basement, where I have one of those wood burning barrel stoves with a stove-pipe to the wall and up probably a 25 foot high chimney. While I stood there all of a sudden I heard something flailing around INSIDE my wood stove! What could that be? One time I had a squirrel inside the stove, in the summer no less, and when I left him out I had quite the time getting him out of my basement!

So I stood to the side of the stove, unlatched and swung open the door. Nothing happened. I tapped on the barrel, nothing. I peered around the stove and looked inside waiting for a squirrel to barrel right over me but instead there sat the sorriest looking bird you ever did see. He was blinking his eyes and was all covered with ashes. He was standing but barely, and so I took a piece of wood more like a yard stick and “encouraged” him to come out. It took some gentle pushes but he jumped up on the edge of the door frame and finally out onto the floor. He was not in a flying mood. So I got real brave and grabbed him from behind and he left out a weak squaaaawwwk!

I took him up and out the cellar steps to the backyard, tapped on the window of the house so JoJo could see the source of the noise, and then tossed him into the air. He flew kind of like a baby bird does when pushed out of the nest too early, but nevertheless he did fly away.

So you’re probably wondering how in the world did a bird get into my wood stove? This is how it happens, my chimney is fairly large with two flues extending above it and there is some space around the flues where a varmint, squirrel, bird or what have you can sit or perch. I’m figuring the bird simply was perched there and went to hop up onto the flu and hopped a bit too far and down the black hole he goes!

So what does this have to do with the Christian walk? Allow me to spiritualize…. Christians, if they’re not careful, can get themselves into places where there are black holes. The place could actually be a real place, or it could be a relationship, maybe it could even be an attitude or an emotion. Before you know it, one more step in the wrong direction and you find yourself caught in a dark place with seemingly no way out. The atmosphere in that place is caustic and so you try with every human ounce of strength you have to get out, and all it does is raise more dust and ashes. Maybe you even tell yourself, “It’s not that bad in here, I’ll be just fine”! When in fact, you are SO far from the Father’s will but cannot even recognize the peril of your situation.

The Prodigal Son found himself in such a place. He demanded his family inheritance before it was time, then turned his back on his father and left to go to a dark place far away from home. He didn’t know it at the time but once having taken steps away his future became darker and darker until finally, he found himself starving and slopping pigs and considering joining in on their supper! Like the bird in my story, there was someone greater than the situation in which he found himself and the door was opened.

The Prodigal’s door was the gift of repentance which is what all of us need to escape the dark places. Repentance you ask? Yes, it takes a turning away from the dark toward the light of our Savior and that is a gift from God. It is like walking in the wrong direction away from the Lord, and when you recognize the error of your way you stop, turnaround, and now you are facing Him, so you confess your sin and then walk with Him in the opposite direction. This can be a daily process and don’t be discouraged if you find yourself doing it often. The Apostle John knew it would happen when he wrote, “If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)

I just love the picture at the end of the story of the Prodigal Son. In my mind I can see the Father every evening standing on a hill watching for his son on a long winding road leading away from home. One day as he lifts his hand to shield his eyes from the sun, far off he sees his son trudging home with his head down in shame. The father runs to meet him and the son cannot believe the unconditional love and forgiveness showered upon him. The moral of the story is first of all stay close to the Father away from the dark places but when needed run from that place to a loving and forgiving Heavenly Father and let the celebration begin!

Prodigal

All Sufficient

Clock

Who was it that when they were born the world’s calendar stopped and started all over again? Who was it that walked out of a tomb with a living glorified body in spite of having been beaten beyond human recognition, hung on a cross, a spear driven into His side until every drop of His blood was spilled out on the ground? Is there any other world figure who stopped time and defeated the power of death? Was it Confucius, Mohammed, Joseph Smith, Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini? No, the clock just tic toc tic tocked away when they were born. Did they walk from their tomb or rise from their grave?. Absolutely not! There is no one else other than Jesus the Christ that accomplished these feats! None other!

So then where do we go but to Lord Jesus? The Apostle Peter summed it up this way, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God” John 6:68-69. Life will bring many chapters our way of pain, joy, sorrow, loneliness and then the final enemy. But the time stopping ever-living Savior will lead us through each one. Consider the words to “Untitled Hymn” better known as “Come to Jesus” by Chris Rice.

Weak and wounded sinner, lost and left to die, Oh raise your head for love is passing by. Come to Jesus, come to Jesus, come to Jesus and live.

Now your burdens  lifted, and carried far away, And precious blood has washed away the stain. So sing to Jesus, sing to Jesus, sing to Jesus and live.

Like a newborn baby don’t be afraid to crawl, And remember when you walk sometimes we fall. So fall on Jesus, fall on Jesus, fall on Jesus and live.

Sometimes the way is lonely and steep and filled with pain, So if your sky is dark and pours the rain. Then cry to Jesus, cry to Jesus, cry to Jesus and live.

Oh when the love spills over and music fills the night, And when you can’t contain your joy inside. Then dance for Jesus, dance for Jesus, dance for Jesus and live!

And with your final heartbeat kiss the world goodbye, Then go in peace and laugh on glory’s side. And fly to Jesus, fly to Jesus, fly to Jesus and live.

Fly to Jesus, Fly to Jesus, Fly to Jesus and live…
